Epsom, Surrey Bespoke Kitchen

We recently completed this stunning kitchen for a family in Surrey! This project was so much fun to work on and our lovely clients had a clear vision for their dream kitchen. 

The Design

When asked what was something they knew they wanted from the beginning, they said:

“As the children were growing up and no longer required a playroom, we decided to convert the existing kitchen, study and playroom into one space which we could enjoy as a family. David, being the chef of the family, wanted the usual gadgets and equipment; more than one oven (ideally hide and slide to pretend we were on GBBO), the Bora hob and his ultimate dream, a larder/pantry. I had concerns about an open space and cooking mess being on show when we eventually sat down for dinner so, for me, a double sink and food warmer (to store food whilst I tidied up) were essential.” 

The Details: Colour & Hardware

The clients used the very bold and beautiful colour, Bond Street, which is one of our most popular colours.

“Because of the kitchen design (one long run of units), we wanted a 'heavy' colour so that they weren't lost in the space.  We knew the space was large with two sets of bi-folds and two windows and felt a darker colour would ground the units. We deliberated between blues and black but went with our initial gut feeling of ‘Bond Street’.  

Controversially, we decided to stick with chrome/stainless steel hardware to match existing light switches and plug sockets. Again, we felt we needed 'substantial' hardware because of the long run of units, hence the choice of handle.”

The Workshop

The clients were able to visit the workshop to see their kitchen being made, and visited with their children! It was a fantastic experience getting to show the clients around and meet the team, and they were able to see how we make our kitchens and meet the team of expert craftspeople.

Favourite Features

There are so many unique and beautiful aspects to this kitchen, we couldn’t pick our favourite, so we asked the family what their favourite part of their new kitchen was and they said:

David: “The pantry.”

Sarah: “The worktops and food warmer. (and perhaps the wine fridge!)”

Daughter 1: “The island - space for the family to be together. (but doing their own thing!)”

Daughter 2: “The storage (she loves to organise!) and the colour.”

The large kitchen features two long runs on tall, dark blue cabinetry with all the storage a family could ask for, including two ovens, a double larder and many, many drawers! There is so more storage in this kitchen!

On Using Herringbone
