Pinstripe Ashtead Kitchen

The Pinstripe Kitchen in Surrey

We recently completed this family kitchen in Surrey and we are so smitten with this project! It’s a simple layout of an island parallel to a run of units in a large open plan living space and it is simply stunning.

Our clients chose our Westminster bespoke kitchen cabinetry range, painted in Mylands ‘Grosvenor Square’ for the units and ‘Bond Street’ for the large kitchen island. They took great consideration in the colour choice of their cabinetry, keeping the colour palette in harmony with their living room furniture. By doing this, and tying in elements together from each room, you can start to create a story and harmony throughout your house.

The denim stripe encaustic tiles were a perfect fit for the colour scheme we chose. I love the way that something as simple as a pinstripe can be arranged to create so many different patterns. We opted for a large chevron design as it perfectly compliments the flooring which has been laid diagonally.“

Decorative tiles, whether they're plain, minimal, or really funky can make an enormous impact on the overall look of a space. By laying the Pinstripe Denim Encaustic tiles in a large chevron pattern like this, not only mirrors the diagonal flooring, but also beautifully mirrors the clean lines in the design of this kitchen. Diagonal stripes would have worked in the same way, but we love how the induction hob reflects the chevron pattern, almost making a diamond shape.

A clever and visually pleasing way of displaying your cookbooks, is by adding open shelving on one end of your island or peninsula. This will also inevitably add colour and texture to your space!

On the other side of the island, is where you will find the double larder unit, painted in ‘Grosvenor Square’ just as the cabinetry directly opposite. Inside this beauty, are 6 oak shelves for maximum storage and easy access to everything, as well as two painted spice racks on either door. No more shuffling around the back of the cupboard for the smoked paprika!

In any space featuring long, clean, straight lines it is important to inject curves in order to bring balance to the overall look. The three glass globe pendant lights, the bun knobs and cup pulls on the cabinetry doors but also the curvature of the Quooker tap as opposed to a more square neck tap all subtly bring in that natural curve the kitchen needed.

We get such tear-jerking testimonials from our clients, this lovely couple had this to say:

Wow! Just Wow!

Our previous kitchen was tiny, dark, dated and cluttered, not because I like clutter, but purely because we had very little storage space. I wanted our new kitchen to be the polar opposite of what we had before. It was always my intention to have clear work surfaces, something that was stylish, bright, timeless and “easy on the eye”.

From the moment we entered the studio in Canterbury we knew we had made the right choice. David took the time to listen to our family kitchen ‘wish list’. He made suggestions and offered invaluable advice, like moving the kitchen to a different part of the room to maximise space and impact.

I arrived with a rough idea of colour, which we did not stray too far from. We finally decided on ‘Grosvenor Square’ for the units and ‘Bond Street’ for the island. We love to entertain, so two ovens was certainly at the top of our list, along with the Quooker tap. We drink a lot of bottled water and are trying to make a conscious effort to cut back on plastic, so to be able to have fresh filtered water from the tap is just fabulous.

Our expectations have been exceeded. I have followed you on Instagram for a couple of years and always looked at your pictures longingly, wishing that one day, I too could have the kitchen on my dreams made by Herringbone. Well, my wish came true and I can’t thank you all enough.

The Herringbone family really care. From that first design visit, right up to the skilled carpenters and joiners that install your kitchen and everyone else in between. You would be hard pressed top find a company that is so dynamic, friendly, hard working and upholds such fabulous values. You don’t just get a beautifully made kitchen, you get a piece of art that has been lovingly created.

Thank you Herringbone, you have changed the way we live. Our kitchen is now the hub of the home, a place where we all want to spend our time. The perfect space for our family and friends and we couldn’t be happier. You are amazing!”

Vanessa & Tony chose a classic collection of different handles for their kitchen and utility. Cotswold Cup Pulls on the drawer, Cotswold Bun Knobs on the cupboard doors and the Bakes Pull Handle on larger doors like the pantry and integrated fridge/freezer, all in a beautiful satin nickel finish. You can find these in our Pantry in many different finishes as well as some other of our favourite handles, decorative tiles & natural stone flooring.

We love creating bespoke utility rooms to go with our bespoke kitchens! This is another great way to create a continuous flow between space. With cabinetry in here painted again in ‘Conforth White’, an additional sink as well as completely bespoke units to perfectly fit their washer and dryer this is an excellent addition to the kitchen with lots of storage space.
