The Design
What a small but mighty project this open plan kitchen space is. We love how this open plan space and kitchen seems to flow so seemlessly and makes the most out of every corner of the room. This kitchen works great for socialising but it also connects the dining space with the outdoor garden through the golden olive French doors.
“It's not a big space by any means but we now have space for a big table for dinner, homework, where I work, which looks out onto the garden through big French doors. I did need to make a few compromises because of the steel issue above but there isn't a single other aspect in the kitchen where I think 'oh I wish I'd done that' or 'I didn't think of that'.“
The bespoke design is clever on storage and features floor to ceiling cabinet units on either side of the main run. The wooden shelves sit neatly over the lower cabinets where the Carrara marble with full bullnose edge encases the Lacanche Macon oven and seemless sink.
The cabinets are designed in our Westminster Style and painted in a lovely deep muddy red whilst the butchers block style island brings in further warmth and texture with its stained oak finish. The gorgeous veined marble runs throughout the space including the cold shelves in the display dresser.
“I didn't want blue or green as the main cabinet colour. I toyed with a stony taupe colour for a while but too boring and then finally settled on Kanreki by Atelier Ellis, a muddy brown plummy red.“

The Details: Colours, Hardware, Worktops Etc
This kitchen has extraordinary attention to detail, and is packed full of storage. We love the small details visible throughout this project from the bespoke chopping board inserts by the oven and the brass rail on the island, to the stunning hardware in hand-cast bronze.
“I agonised over every detail (perfectionist virgo!) and really thought through every aspect of how I use the space and how I wanted it to feel. I cook a lot so the oven and dining table is really important to me plus lots of space for cookbooks, glassware, ceramics and plates etc.“
The ceiling windows above the sink is a beautiful feature that brings out the colours used in this space. The seamless sink works really well with the marble splash back and the hardware used throughout. Together the materials and colours used create a warm, welcoming and stunning space to spend time in.
